Autumn Term Newsletter

2020/21 Outlaws Newsletter

Welcome everyone to the 2020/21 badminton season.

A critacal time for r the Notts Outlaws as we strive for long term financial viability in light of the recent lockdown – after making a small surplus lest season there are many challenges ahead as we are restricted to 5 players plus a coach in any one session. As a result, it has created an opportunity to provide more personalised training and an extra play session to prsctise those skills.

Coaching Team

Neil continues to lead our coaching team – ably assisted by Peter, Matt and Mick. As a result of the changes in cells, we lose the services of James and Kerri and I would like to place on record here our thanks for the commitment and energy they have brought to the Outlaws – we hope we can keep in touch.

If anyone is interested in supporting our lead coaches at cells, please get in touch with Neil. There are funds available, from external sources, for anyone wishing to take their coaching badges.

County Teams

Last season, Notts have entered teams in the Under 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s and 20s age groups of the Shires League. Notts have also entered teams in the Primary, U13, U15 and U17 midway tournaments as soon as we can compete nationally again we hope to continue with these.

Notts will also be competing in other tournaments as soon as we are allowed these may include: RIO tournament at York in January, the U18 ICT tournament usually in April as well as team events ran at York during the spring.

More information on the Shires League and fixtures is available at the website below.

http://shiresbadminton.co.uk/

Last season was successful reaching the U14 shires finals for the second season on the run following from not reaching this stage for many years. Notts finished 18th in the ICT tournament. To make this season even more successful, we need to ensure we have as many players to select from. See table below as a guide to help you identify which age groups you would fit into.

Age group clarification

County Championship

We do not know when it will be possible to run County Championships as we did last year but as soon as we can we'll let you know.

Tournaments

As every year, all Outlaws players are expected to enter the County Championships . Players are also expected to enter BADMINTON England age group tournaments once again this will only be possible when we are given the green light to return to normal play.

Fundraising

Jack Kenedy has kindly offered to be our star fund raiser this year so please get involved - news of which will follow shortly. If you have any suggestions for fundraising or have any leads on potential sponsorship opportunities, then please have a chat using out new TEAMO APP.

Finally – all that remains is for me to thank all players and parents for their support to the Outlaws and we wish every player a wonderful season and hope there will not be anymore disruptions!

Play hard, play fair and play with a smile on your face !
